NEWS RELEASE · 18th July 2012
BC RCMP
RCMP and Search and Rescue continue their search efforts in locating a missing Ohio man, 26 year old Warren Andrew SILL ,who was in the Gull Creek area of New Hazleton B.C. filming a documentary on the Spirit Bears known to roam in that area.

On July 10th, 2012 New Hazelton RCMP received a complaint of an abandoned vehicle parked at Gull Creek. The investigation lead them to SILL’s family who confirmed he was in the area and had planned to stay for 4 to 5 days in order to get his footage. RCMP confirmed the vehicle had been parked at the entrance of the Whiskey Creek Trail since Thursday, July 5th, 2012.

Police grew concerned as SILL’s vehicle was searched and all the equipment needed for camping was still inside. SILL’s sleeping bag, tent and camping stove remained in the vehicle, all of which were necessary to survive in the rugged terrain for any length of time.
Police then learned that SILL was not a seasoned outdoors man and therefore Search and Rescue were contacted.

For the past 5 days, Search and Rescue Teams from all over the Province have been contacted. A command post was established at the parking lot and base of Whiskey Creek Trail. Search Teams have consisted of approximately 25 volunteers who have covered the area on ground and by air. Police are also working with a local resident of Kitwanga who knows the area very well.

“Today police are using a number of resources including River boats as they are now focusing on the creek beds.” Stated Cst. Lesley Smith, North District Media Liaison “Forest fire fighters have been flown into the higher regions and will be clear cutting a second base so the helicopter can land and bring further tools and supplies.”

Warren 'Andrew' SILL has been missing for 12 days. He is described as;
