Terrace Little Theatre will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Saturday September 29th, 2012 at 1.30 p.m. at the McColl Playhouse 3625 Kalum Street in Terrace.
Newcomers and all members are encouraged to come out to have a look at our renovations and elect a new Board of Directors for the Society.
The club is actively looking for new blood and welcomes new members. Community theatre groups thrive on new creative input and younger members to come on board as not only actors, designers and directors but to help run the Society which is wholly done by volunteers. A core group which dates back decades is still involved, and over the years members have enjoyed TLT as their second family before they moved away. Children who were in Summer Drama Days return to become instructors and to work on season productions. As the economy declined, so did involvement as people sought work elsewhere. With the anticipated boom, TLT is openly embracing the opportunity to expand its talent base.
TLT typically produces three plays a year including dinner theatre and festival. This past season there was no dinner theatre or spring show so the Club could concentrate on renovations and repairs to the interior of the McColl Playhouse. Now the Club anticipates a full season and is working with other theatre groups in the northwest and central interior to revive the beloved Skeena Zone Festival. The dinner theatre play has been picked – “Sexy Laundry”. Auditions for this two-hander and the fall show will be announced soon.
Other events hosted by TLT include the Annual Gold Scramble on September 15th, ticketing for many touring shows including Vinyl Café, the Summer Drama Days theatre camp for children and various play readings throughout the year. They recently partnered with Northwords Writers and the Terrace Public library for a monologue workshop. The Club is a member of the Terrace & District Arts Council and Theatre BC. Two areas the group is looking for volunteers to re-inject life into are the improv troupe, the Oxymorons and the TLT Youth Troupe for teens interested in theatre.
In October Terrace Little Theatre will host an Open House for new and old members – stay tuned for details.
Anyone interested in a position on the Board can contact TLT at 250.638.1215 or info,,,mytlt.ca for more information.
2012-13 membership forms will be available at Uniglobe Courtesy Travel on September 1st. A one year membership is only $5.
