The Terrace RCMP have responded to approximately 85 calls for service from November 9, 8 AM till November 13, 8 AM. During the same time period there were 16 people lodged in Terrace Cells. Seven of these were for public intoxication.
Here are some of the calls responded to:
Theft investigation. An apartment manager was claiming that rent was not being paid by tenants. The apartment owner discovered that the rent had been paid by the tenants.
Shoplifting from Save On Foods. Police located the man on the Sande Overpass. He was not co-operative with police and intoxicated. Police arrested him for public intoxication. Numerous stolen items were found on his person. He is banned from Save On Foods.
A 2009 Ford F350 went off road and went approximately 60 ft down an embankment, landing on its driver’s side on Hwy 37 near Westside Lake Rd. The driver was uninjured.
A call came into the RCMP of a robbery. The report was that five boys ages 14, 14, 14, 14, and 13 yrs were just standing around minding their own business when a late model silver/tan foreign looking hatchback stopped. Two men inside of the car demanded money and the backpack or they would beat the boys up. Investigation determined that the report was false. What actually happened was the boys attempted to get the men in the vehicle to bootleg alcohol for them. They gave the men money and the backpack to put the booze into. The men took off with the money and backpack.
Fight on Kalum St. Police spoke with an injured 16 yr old girl inside of Copperside. Police observed video footage and arrested a 16 yr old girl for assault. Charges of assault are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. During this investigation police spoke with another 16 yr old girl who provided a false name to the police. She was arrested for obstruction. She fought with police and attempted to run away. She kicked an auxiliary constable in the face. Charges of assault peace officer and obstruction are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A red 1991 Sprint was stolen during the night of November 9/10 from a residence on Simpson Cr. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys left inside of it.
Domestic dispute. A 31 yr old man was arrested for assault. He was intoxicated and refused to leave the residence when asked. He threw a small plastic table at a television and broke it then punched a hole in the wall.
A black 1999 Ford F350 was observed parked illegally and running in the driveway of a residence known to police. The 44 yr old driver provided a sample of his breath on a roadside screening device and failed. He was given an immediate roadside suspension and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
The window of a grey 1993 Ford Taurus was smashed out while it was parked on Scott Ave on November 10 between 12:00 PM and 1 PM.
Two intoxicated men banging on vehicles at a location on Hwy 16 West. Police spoke with the men. When a man retrieved a key from his pocket drugs fell out onto the ground. The 24 yr old man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Police also arrested a 36 yr old man for causing a disturbance.
The Terrace Peaks Gymnastic’s club was broken into. The vandals set off a fire extinguisher.
A woman refusing to leave Denny’s Restaurant when asked to do so. Police spoke with the people involved. Ongoing issues involving relationships, grudges, and multiple people. The person left once they were allowed to take their food with them.
A man known to police to be on curfew conditions was observed outside of his residence at the Northern Motor Inn. He was arrested for breach. Police seized a can of bear spray, drug paraphernalia, and a quantity of drugs from his person. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A grey 2007 Mazda 5 was damaged while it was parked at a fundraiser at the Thornhill Community Center on November 10/11 sometime between 11:30 PM and 12:30 AM. The side door was dented.
A red 1996 Ford Explorer lost control on Graham Ave, hit a hydro pole, then unearthed a tree. The 17 yr old driver was uninjured.
A grey 1990 Toyota Highlander ended up on its roof at Walker St/Clore Ave. The 28 yr old driver was taken to Mills Memorial Hospital via BC Ambulance for assessment.
A red 1990 Honda Accord was seen driving on the soccer fields of Caledonia School. Police attended to the registered owner’s address and dealt with the 17 yr old driver.
A white 2008 GMC Sierra tuck driving in an erratic manner on Legion Ave. Police located the vehicle. The 24 yr old driver failed a roadside screening device. He was issued an immediate roadside suspension and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
A traffic stop was conducted with a grey 1996 Chevrolet Silverado at Lazelle Ave/Sparks St. The 45 yr old driver failed a roadside screening device. He was arrested for driving over the legal limit and provided two samples of breath that were close to double the legal limit. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A sow and cub were seen on Olson Ave. Checks were done of area.
Numerous calls received on a group of youth throwing snowballs at cars.
Theft of meat from Safeway. A store employee recognized the 62 yr old woman from similar incidents in the store. Police arrested her for theft. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A person attempting to break into a truck on Soucie Ave. The registered owner of the truck confronted three boys. Two ran away. The owner caught the third. This boy raised his arm back with a knife in an attempt to strike. The owner of the truck struck the boy and was able to subdue him till police arrived. Police arrested him and he is held for court. Police then followed foot prints in the snow left by the two who fled. Police located and arrested two boys both 14 yrs of age. Charges are to be forwarded to Crown Counsel.
