Terrace Daily News
Even though some in Terrace are claiming, as they have now for two years running, there will be no Christmas Parade of Lights; a Santa Claus ‘extravaganza’ will indeed be taking place as residents drive down Lakelse Avenue starting from the corner of Lazelle and Eby.

Last year someone tried to cancel the Parade of lights too. But, no, the Kinsmen Club of Terrace would hear nothing of it. They arranged for others to assemble, and a drive down main street with horns honking, music playing, lights beaming was had.

And this year everyone is being encouraged to do it again, to dress up their cars and trucks, to drag along a trailer, mix it up with lights, music and whatever you wish, to cheer up the crowd. Even Santa might show up if things get crazy enough!

The Kinsmen are hosting a Hayride, which will begin at 6:30pm in the BC Service Center Parking lot (December 1 - Saturday) near the liquor store, across from the Husky service station. If you have children who would like to go on a ride, that’s the place to be.

This event is an unorganized event. It is a 'come as you are', line up as you can, and celebrate as you never have, kinda gathering.

The drive down Lakelse Avenue will end up at George Little Park where more festivities will be discovered.

Never let anyone tell you the Terrace Christmas Festival of Lights and Parade won’t be happening. At least don’t tell the men of the Kinsmen Club of Terrace, cause like all their other activities, they will ensure the residents of Terrace and the surrounding communities will always be entertained. Whether it be the Polar Bear style swim at Lakelse Lake on New Years Day or the Fishing Boat draw on Fathers Day, these dads will make sure the kids are not disappointed.

Thank you Kinsmen, SAR and the volunteers at the Festival of Lights for a great evening. A new tradition in Terrace is born, one that is much more inclusive and speaks to the true meaning of community spirit. My hats off to you, or toque would be more appropriate. You are all great!
