All My Relations

Hundreds of residents from the Sacred Circle, the territories of the Indian Nations of the Tahltan, Gitxsan, Wet’suwet’en, Haisla, Haida, Tlingit, Nisga’a and Tsimshian, gathered in Terrace, BC on Tsimshian National Territory, at the Skeena Mall.

The Skeena Mall is named after the Skeena River. A Majestic river originating at the Spatzizi Wilderness Plateau in the Klappan region of the Tahltan Nation. It flows through Gitxsan National Territory beginning the origins of the name; ‘Ksan’ ‘River of the Mists’; and then through the Tsimshian Nation emptying into the North Pacific Ocean.

It is this river, which forms the entire facial profile of the Indian Chief looking east. The Stikine River, known as the Grand Canyon of the north, originates at the same sacred location. It outlines the headdress of the Great Chief and continues down through the North Pacific inlets and islands, including Haida Gwaii, to form the head and hair. The Nass River, again originating from the same location, outlines the hair line along the check bones to the neck.

The people of these Nations, who survived for thousands of years from the bounty of these great rivers, joined together as one, singing, drumming and dancing. Trivial conflicts disappeared as all joined in the understanding they were all once again threatened by the government of Canada.

As many signs hoisted high in the air proclaimed, they thanked the Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper for uniting them again as one people.

Our ancestors would have been so proud of us..

Thank you for sharing this video with us. It feels weird, these days, attending public (political) functions without my Mother. I used to love to make her happy and proud. And she was always happy when indulging in cultural and/or political events. The drums were so loud and beautiful, maybe she was there.

Many of our Tsimshian Elders have departed to the other side recently. Now, they are our beloved ancestors. We do this for our great-grandchildren......and for our ancestors.

Why wah!
