The less we know, the more likely we are to believe erroneous "things." We are so heavily influenced by popular culture and tech gadgets that most of what we know about "things" in general is often mislead by sentiment, personal views or conventional wisdom, which are often the perpetrators of bad thinking.
The best way to shake these shackles of ignorance is by thinking critically about the truth claims of popular culture and conventional wisdom, and by getting oneself into the library and patiently reading.
