In an effort to raise more awareness regarding the abuse by some members of the forces, we have arranged a march from the Terrace RCMP Detachment on Eby Street to the Courthouse on Kalum Street.
Join us at 12 O'clock noon on Friday March 15 at the Terrace RCMP Detachment as we begin our rally and prepare to walk through Terrace to the Provincial Courthouse.
There have been many recent accounts of unnecessary injuries, arrests and incarcerations. The most recent disturbing allegations came to light with the Human Rights Watch report
regarding the treatment of indigenous women and men from our nothern region. This follows the extensive report by the BCCLA called Small Town Justice.
And just last week the Canadian Parliament was delivered another report
which detailed how indigenous women are the highest identifiable
per capita group incarcerated.MP demands answers
We need to keep this issue alive, keep our fellow citizens aware of the very serious assaults on our most vulnerable neighbours. We need to ensure the serious injuries inflicted on citizens while in police "protective" custodyare not forgotten.
