This is the report from last years Kinsmen Kermodei Swim. Watch the video on youtube by clicking HERE. A better quality image is attached below (30MB)

Another successful fundraiser on another January First. It was the start of the second decade of the 21st century and many chose to start it with a splash by participating in the 19th Annual Kinsmen Kermode Bear Swim.

The sun was out but the wind was blowing a very cold breeze across those waiting to jump and those watching at Lakelse Lake Friday afternoon.

Many were standing at the open hole in the ice waiting to jump in when they were called back to the Kinsmen Building for the costume judging. The whole affair was chilly however the money raised will all go to very worthy community efforts.

Four jumpers raised over one thousand dollars and each of them were entered into the grand prize raffle. This was for a flight for two to see the Canucks in Vancouver and included a stay at the Rosedale on Robson.

Murray Hamer, who played the pipes to the water and then played them back to the Kin Hut, Dr. Micheal Cooper, Christine Leclerc and the lucky winner of the draw Christine Inkster each raised over a thousand dollars in pledges for the Kinsmen and each took their turn jumping in the lake.

A short video of the exciting day is attached below.

Thank you Merv for being there today to help document our Swim. It was an extremely successful day. Thanks in part to the four thousand + jumpers we raised over $7700 for local charities.

Thank you to all who came a witnessed the insanity, to CFNR for promoting the hell out of the swim, to Hawkair and Northern Gateway and CFNR for providing the grand prize trip.

See you all next year!!!
