The City of Terrace, Councillors and Administration, took time out of their busy schedules to honour the hard work and dedication of the many Volunteers in Terrace. The Banquet room at the Terrace Sportsplex was set up for a quiet dinner and presentation ceremony on Thursday February 25th, which was hosted by Mayor David Pernarowski. Eighteen groups of citizens received certificates and applause after a slide show presentation, which captured some of the moments of their work. This was not a public gathering and was not announced except to the award recipients. All of these dedicated people deserve recognition and public acknowledgement.

When Mayor Pernarowski began he asked each group to stand as he called out their name. As the Terrace Beautification Society stood he remarked it was almost the whole room. The Hockeyville Committee received a long applause and after he announced the Skeena Christmas Market Festival, Pernarowski exclaimed it was a real blow out this past year. This was in regards to the extreme winds received during the night after the opening celebrations which destroyed most of the exhibitor setups.
After the opening remarks the Sweet Adelines took to the stage and provided some unique vocal harmonies on many traditional songs, one being a compilation of some familiar compositions. The slide show provoked some laughter and the mayor had many one liners ready to go with the commentary on the successes and achievements of each group.
After the slide show was completed all of the Terrace City Councillors assembled at the front of the stage to thank and shake hands with a representative of each group and organization. The Mayor presented each with a certificate of appreciation and offered everyone gathered a Terrace is Hockeyville pin.
