REPORTING · 23rd March 2010
Merv Ritchie
The City has applied for a grant to construct new access walkways, firm secure pathways, for wheelchair access to the new exercise center at George Little Park.

One Councillor suggested they should use the $20,000 grant funds to put a roof over the entire affair. This was countered by City Planner David Block who stated a large overhanging tree provided nice shelter and an open air environment was part of this centers attraction.

More misguided notions.

Say what? You say you think you should invest $20, 000 to roof over something that is supposed to be an outdoor area for seniors?

Okay, and if you have that kind of money then why can you not allocate it for community gardens and services through Terrace Anti-Poverty, since both these things also benefit seniors and persons with disabilities.

That $20,000 could do a lot more good for a lot more people, it seems to me.
