Terrace Legion Branch 13
The Terrace Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13 now has e-newsletters. These e-newsletters detail upcoming events and what is happening in general at the Legion. To sign up for these e-newsletters send an email to Sinnott,,, and request to be added onto the mailing list. Below is an excerpt from their first e-newsletter.

"...did you know that we hold a STEAK NIGHT the first FRIDAY of every month! For a mere $10, you can have a great steak dinner, and the company of good friends. Also, each and every month, we hold a VETERANS DINNER. If you are a Vet, or spouse of a VET, you are more than welcome, and if you are not, we sure could use your help on the evening cooking, cleaning, or serving. Why not give it a try?

Regular Business is conducted by the membership the second Tuesday of every month, and all members are encouraged to join us for this regular meeting. Itís at 8pm, and doesnít last that long, and it is your chance to give your opinion on YOUR BRANCH. This Branch can only survive and prosper if you take an active interest, so please, drop by and join in and have your voice heard. (You could also drop by earlier and have a beer before the meeting too!)

Special Events are always happening, and here is a sample of the most current events to happen. The Ladies Auxiliary are having a PIE SALE, during MEAT DRAW, on Saturday April 17th. Oh, yes, I forgot to mention Meat Draw, thatís every Saturday from 4pm to 6pm at the Branch. Hereís a chance to win next weekís dinners for just a few dollars, and maybe have a quick pint or two. But this weekend is a special treat! The Ladies (and John for those that know our Master Baker) are going to provide a very tasty sale during this weekís MEAT DRAW. Come down and see, buy a couple of pies, or maybe 3. Personally, I recommend the Pumpkin, but donít buy them all, I have 2 on reserve for me.

What do you think? What would you like to see happening at our Branch? What events, ideas, activities would you like to see? What would you like to do as a member of the Terrace Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion? Drop us a note at Sinnott,,, and let us know your ideas, be it around the branch, in this eNews, or around town, we want to know what you think!

May 8th is indeed a special day. It is the 65th anniversary of VE day, the day that ended World War II in Europe. We are going to recognize this historic date with a short ceremony at the Terrace Cenotaph at 1:15pm, during which time the Colour Party will be receiving itís new Canadian Flag that will have just returned from flying in Afghanistan. This will be a short, but memorable moment that everyone should come down and participate in. We are hoping to have at least one of our Young Canadian Soldiers present that has just returned from duty in Afghanistan, along with our own World War II Veterans, and Korean Veterans, in a multi generational recognition of our service men and women. After the ceremony, we will be returning to the Branch, were we will be presenting service awards, and swearing in new members. If you have not yet been sworn in, or would like to be sworn in again, this is your chance to do so. Afterwards we will be having our regular MEAT DRAW, starting at 4pm. ( I think I mentioned that before, didnít I?)

Did you know that you can become a voting affiliate member and participate and vote in all meetings immediately now? That you do not need to have been a service person? Or related to a service person? Come in, and ask any of our friendly staff for an application form, and have your friends join you as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, itís a great place to be, a great community of friends to work with, and itís a great service to our community and the Veterans both young and old that have given so much to each of us.

Remembering; itís not something we do just on November 11th, itís something we do every day."
