On April 9th 2010 at 22:37 hrs Terrace RCMP attended the scene of a of a single vehicle MVI on Queensway Dr at Old Remo Rd. It was reported to Police a vehicle had flipped over in a ditch and several people were trapped in the car.
Once Police attended they found all passengers had escaped the vehicle with minor injuries. The driver, a young female had consumed alcohol prior to driving and of the several young persons she was deemed the most 'sober' by those in the vehicle and been allowed to drive. She was arrested for impaired driving and was later released and given a court date.
Police would like to remind all drivers on the road that a designated driver is one who is sober and responsible. That getting in a car with a driver who is not fully sober, or getting behind the wheel when not sober can have fatal consequences. A Conviction for impaired driving can include jail time and a mandatory driving prohibition.
