CONTRIBUTION · 3rd May 2010
On Saturday, May 1st Ksan Community Greenhouse held a workbee which was attended by 7 helpful volunteers from the community. In the photo above is Pierre Duchemin who is unloading all the donated bags of soils in preparation for a seedling bed of tomatoes.
All the items in the greenhouse are recycled or damaged products that have been donated by citizens or retailers for re-use.
The greenhouse is an initiative of Ksan House to augment stores of fresh food to the community and to its programs. Coordinator Diana Penner stated that the weekend workbee saw the planting of 180 tomato and cucumber plants. The planting will continue after further donations of damaged soil products is received.
Any donations of plants, seeds, soils, pots, or gardening items can be dropped off at the Terrace Emergency shelter on Hall St. or Ksan House on Lazelle. .
