CONTRIBUTION · 13th May 2010
May 7, 8 and 9 were full of music and dance at Terrace's Annual Square Dance Jamboree. The event this year was held in the gym at Kiti K'Shan School. The gym was decorated in the theme of a barnyard and approximately 30 dancers from Terrace, Thornhill, Vanderhoof, and Prince George danced the weekend away to singer and caller Larry Mann.
The Jamboree started with almost 3 hours of dance on Friday May 7th. On Saturday Larry Mann taught a 2 hour workshop on square dance moves and dances. This followed later with a bountiful potluck and more dancing late into the night.
The following morning which was Mother's Day, Happy Belated Mom's day to all of our mom readers. 18 dancers came out to the new Spirit Square to dance on Terrace's new Band Shell.
Overall the weekend event was well attended, a lot of fun and worth its weight in hoedown calls. Dancers enjoyed all aspects of square dance and in so doing, exercised well, visited much and laughed often.
Square dancing will start up again on September 13, 2010 at Cassie Hall school at 7:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to come learn, dance and exercise f0r a tooney.
