As part of a commitment to support active and healthier commuting, the City of Terrace will again be participating in the Commuter Challenge.

The Commuter Challenge is a national program encouraging Canadians to walk, cycle, carpool, tele-work (work from home) or take transit as opposed to driving to work alone.

The challenge is intended as a friendly competition between workplaces and communities across Canada to see which has the highest percentage participation rates during the week. During Commuter Challenge week, employees record how they get to work and at the end the week the workplace with the highest percentage of healthier commuters is declared the winner.

We challenge all workplaces, schools and organizations to register and encourage employees to join in during Commuter Challenge week, May 30th - June 5th, 2010. There will be a week of related events including commuter breakfasts, prizes for top 3 workplaces, cycling races, and a BBQ and family friendly bike race on Sunday, June 6th.
