REPORTING · 11th June 2010
Merv Ritchie
On July 5, 1967, Hilda Kriegl opened Berts Deli across from the Library in Terrace. After Hilda passed away in the spring of 2004, her son Richard took over the operation of the Deli.

The clientele has changed over the years as Hilda was serving the European 'Old World' customers. In the Fall of 2009 Richard determined a new plan was in order. The Deli had a large and loyal following except many of the product lines which were successful in his mothers day were falling short of sales expectations.

On May 21st Richard reopened as a Cafe'/Deli with a more streamlined and fresh product line.

Next weekend, June 19th, Richard and his enlarged staff are hosting the Grand Re-opening Party. This will be a unique celebration featuring an art show and live music.

From 10 am to 4 pm the plan is the offer; Smoothies, Fresh Juice, Sandwiches and showing off their new product lines, the renovations and the selection of 'pollutant free' meats from the Smithers Sausage Factory.

From 4 pm to 7 pm the mood, the atmosphere will change as the live music and art show takes center stage with Richard hosting a wine and cheese celebration.
