Parked out near the front of Terrace City Hall is a brand new electric car supplied courtesy of BC Hydro. This is part of an arrangement made in Smithers during a Municipal leaders convention when Terrace City Administrator, Ron Poole met with Bob Gammer from BC Hydro.
As a demonstration project for "Clean Green" energy, BC Hydro has supplied 12 Solar panels, which now adorn the roof of Terrace City Hall and the use of this new car by City staff for one year. Terrace gets to keep the panels, which are now connected to the BC Hydro grid via an AC to DC inverter inside the City Hall building.
Poole joked about whether or not BC Hydro would also be supplying the winter tires but acknowledged this was an interesting experiment and it all came together very quickly; he just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
