After a 2 year absence due to reported low fish stocks, the Annual Kitsumkalum Family Fish Derby is back. This weekends event marks the 9th year for the derby.
This Saturday and Sunday, July 17 and 18th families will be heading out to see how their catch measures up to the competition. Weigh-in on Saturday runs from 10 am to 9 pm and from 10 am to 5pm on Sunday.
A grand prize of a return trip for 2 to Vancouver courtesy of Hawkair is up for grabs.
Organizers are hoping to have a barbeque for the event, plus there will be food vendors.
Tickets are available at Kitsumkalum Tempo
$15.00 for Adults and $10.00 for youth 16 and under.
Proceeds will be going to a local charity soon to be chosen.
This event is being brought to you by Kitsumkalum Tempo, CFNR and Hawkair with additional support from the Kinsmen, Points North Roofing and various local business that are contributing prize donations.
Organizers are reminding participants to make sure they have their fishing license and to be present for the main draw on Sunday.
