Terrace U13 Girls Soccer
The Terrace U13 Girls' Soccer team travelled to Richmond, BC to participate in their first provincial tournament July 8 – 11, 2010.

In group play the Kermodes first faced a well balanced Couquitlam team. The terrace girls got off to a slow start trailing at half time 2 nil. They were able to cut the lead in half but couldn't manage another finishing their first game with a 2-1 defeat.

Their second game saw them face the South Kootenay team. The first half was back and forth with both teams having difficulty finding the back of the net. The Kermodes dominated the second half controlling possession for most of the time, but still unable to capitalize. They finished with a 0-0 tie at full time.

In the final game of group play, Richmond needed a win to advance to the gold medal game and only the Kermodes stood in the way. The girls were able to play the role of spoilers by drawing to a 1-1 tie with the host team from Richmond. It was another close match that went back and forth. The tie secured a 3rd place finish in their group and secured a spot in the 5th/6th place final game.

Close exciting matches had been the norm for the Kermodes in the tournament and their final game turned out to be the most exciting. Both teams managed two goals in the first half that was filled with back and forth action.

The second half was much of the same with the ball being constantly moved from one end of the field to the other for both teams. Late in regular time on two occasions Terrace's goaltender Jill Green needed to make spectactular saves in order to keep the ball out of the goal. On one occasion, she was able to throw herself on the ball as it bounced on the goal line before it crossed over.

With very little time left in injury time the Kermodes were able to advance the ball down field and secure a strong shot on goal. It was a shot the opposing team's goalie wasn't able to completely stop as it deflected off the keeper's hands and into the back of the net. It was a very exciting game that saw Jessica Parmar score all 3 goals for the Kermode girls.

It was a very successful tournament for the U13 girls who finished with a record of 1W-1L-2T securing 5th place at the 2010 competition. The success they had can be attributed to the hard work and determination of the players. Congratulations to the U13 girls.
