A single occupant accident occurred tonight at close to 8 pm on Kalum Lake Drive. A vehicle reported to be displaying Alberta plates left the road between one and two kilometers outside of Terrace heading north on the Nisga'a Highway.
Witnesses at the scene first assumed the driver did not survive but there is no confirmation and the victim has been transported to Mills Memorial Hospital.
The car appears to have come into the corner, which curved to the right and he left the roadway to the left. The car entered a low ditch then plowed through a dirt bank rolling and or flipping several times as it careened around a power pole landing in a ditch near a residence's driveway.
When we arrived at the scene, and on the drive to the location, we were partially blinded at times by the low and bright sun directly interfering with our vision.
The accident investigators are on the scene to determine the cause.
