This is the last weekend of Riverboats Days 2010. There are a few events as well as some regular weekly events. The biggest event and a great way to end this year’s festivities is the annual Métis Riverside Festival. The festival is at “Har-Lee’s Place” which is about 14km north on Kalum Lake Drive. The festival includes music of many different styles and will be running throughout the weekend. CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE

There is also another festival running this weekend starting tonight in Iskut. The Honouring the Elders Ceremony & Music Festival is to honour the 15 elders who were arrested while blockading the road to the sacred headwaters and thereby was the start to creating an awareness to prevent Royal Dutch Shell from drilling for coalbed methane. The festival will be taking place at Eagle River Fairgrounds. CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE

During the last week the Terrace Art Gallery has had an exhibit on display by local artists. Each artist was given a 6” X 6” canvas on which to create their masterpiece. These have been on display for the last week as well as on silent auction. Now tonight at 6 PM at the Terrace Art Gallery, all these pieces of artwork will be up for auction. Come down and get your self a little masterpiece of your own.

On Saturday there is an event many have been waiting for, the Tastes of Terrace. You can purchase the tickets at $10 each until 1 PM on Saturday at Misty River Books and the Skeena Diversity Society. When you purchase your tickets you will be given a map to the participating restaurants.

There are the usual morning events on Saturday with the Skeena Valley Farmers’ Market at Spirit Square and the pancake breakfast and flea market in Rosswood.

There is an open house at the Terrace Rod and Gun Club where you can try your hand at different firearms and bows. The Terrace Whiskey Jacks will also be in attendance. The open house runs from 10 AM until 2 PM.

For all of the horse lovers there is Terrace’s first 3 breed horse show at the Thornhill Community Grounds. Judges will be coming from Minnesota and South Dakota. For more info check out our event calendar HERE

That night there is a different band taking the stage at Georges in the Northern Motor Inn. 4 On The Floor will hit the stage at 9:30 PM so come on down and enjoy some live music.

On Sunday, the George Little House flea market will be taking place as per usual. Also the last event of this year’s Riverboat Days, the Food & Flower Garden Tour, will be taking place. You can purchase your tickets with the maps at Misty River Books and Sidewalkers until the day before. Go around and check out the beautiful gardens that Terrace has to offer.

Just a reminder to everybody: all open fires of all sizes, including campfires, are under a heavily enforced ban until further notice. This ban does not include the Ferry Island Campgrounds. Have a safe weekend!
