The Copper Mountain Stringband will be officially kicking off their new album this weekend. The stage is set for this Saturday, August 21st at the McColl Playhouse. Doors will open at 7:30 and music starting at 8.
Cover charge is a donation of a non-perishable food item, which will be given to the local food bank. All proceeds from beverage sales will be going to the Terrace Little Theater.
The band will be performing 2 x 45 minute sets that will comprise of some stuff from their new CD, some traditional songs as well a sneak preview of some songs from their upcoming album.
The band has been playing together for three years. The band started when Jack and Jean Cook, who had been playing for 11 years, had some gigs in Kitimat and were looking for an additional musician to play with them. They found one and had such an amazing time, that after they were done their series of shows,they decided to officially form the band as we know it today.
The band consists of:
Jack Cook - Rhythm guitar, mandolin, blues harp and backup vocals
Jean Cook - Upright bass and lead singer and backup vocals
Wayne Sheridan - Rhythm guitar, resonator guitar, mandolin, melodica, lead singer and backup vocals
Eric Sweeney - 5 string banjo, claw hammer banjo, resonator guitar and backup vocals
Their new CD - Midnight Train, is available for purchase at all 3 Sight & Sound locations, Misty River Books, George Little House, The Yellow House, and Gemma's.
