REPORTING · 19th August 2010
Evan Jennings
Yesterday at approximately 1:30 PM, the Terrace Fire Department responded to a 911 dispatch call to New Remo on Highway 16 West. It was reported that there was a power line down with smoke showing.

When the fire dept arrived at the scene they confirmed the downed line and immediately contacted BC Hydro. They then had to wait until BC Hydro came and de-energized the power line.

The fire was approximately forty feet by one hundred feet. The Terrace Fire Department arrived with one truck and four crew members and the Thornhill Fire Dept, who also responded to the call, came with one truck with a full crew. The Thornhill fire truck supplied the water to the Terrace truck.

With the two crews working together they were able to put out the fire in approximately two hours. There were no buildings or structures damaged by the fire.
