Tour de North is an 863km cycling event hosted by the Canadian Cancer Society. The Tour leaves Prince George on September 10 and winds its’ way through the northwest arriving in Prince Rupert September 16.
This year, 24 RCMP members are riding along with one paramedic member, one civilian rider, and one media rider. All funds raised go to support children with cancer, and their families, as well as pediatric cancer research.
Terrace is well represented this year with 2 riders: RCMP officer Stewart Egers and civilian rider Lucy Praught. The Tour arrives in Terrace on Wednesday, September 15 at 4pm at George Little Park. We invite everyone to come out and welcome the Tour to Terrace!
There are several fundraisers going on to support this worthy cause. Lucy & Stu are hosting a “Gala” on Saturday, Aug. 28. The Gala will be held at NWCC and tickets are $50 each. Black tie is optional. Tickets can be purchased at Outspoke’n or at the RCMP detachment.
Northern Savings Credit Union (Tour Bike sponsors) is holding a BBQ on Friday September 3 at noon to raise money for the Tour. So stop by the credit union for lunch and support the cause.
Reva, of Grand Ole Barbershop, is doing “Haircuts by Donation” on Monday September 13. Stop by her shop across from the Library, have a trim, and all proceeds go to the Tour.
