After all the rain this week, the weekend was looking dreary but the weather is supposed to clear up before Saturday morning. Saturday is supposed to get up to 20 degrees out and Sunday will be partially cloudy with a slight chance of showers. This works out well as there are many activities happening outdoors this weekend.
On Saturday, there is the usual Farmers Market, which is beginning to slowly wind down to the end of the year. So you better head down before it’s too late.
Also happening at the Farmers Market, the BC Nurses Union will be bringing their big bus down to talk to locals about our healthcare. Later at 5:30PM they wil be at the hospital with BCNU President Debra McPherson in attendance. There will be food served and everybody is welcome to come.
During the day starting at around 9:30 AM is the last weekend of Terrace Drag Races for the year. As per last year, the last event is the Bike Wars. This year Jeff Knowels will be bringing his Nitro Bike so come out and enjoy the fun!CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
Later that night at 5:30 PM, the doors to the Fundraising Gala for the Tour de North will open. There will be drinks and appetizers served from 6 – 7 and dinner will be served at directly after 7. The dress code is a red serge with a black tie. Tickets are $50 and are available from the Northwest Community College, Outspoke’N and the Terrace RCMP detachment. There will also be a silent auction as well as a server auction, where you get to bid on celebrity servers. To make sponsorship arrangements call Lucy at 635-1191.
At 6 PM, the Skeena Diversity Society is having there monthly Potluck and Discussion. This month theme is South India, so bring a dish to share and get in on the talk.
If you are looking for some musical entertainment this weekend, Sound Collision will be playing at 9:30 pm at Georges in the Northern Motor Inn. Come out and support some local talent.
On Sunday, there is the weekly flea market at the George Little House. Who knows what treasures may be waiting to be found?
The Bike Wars will continue on throughout Sunday. At the end of the races, the trophies for the weekend will be given out as well as the year end trophies.
For everybody who has been waiting for the past few weeks the time has finally come. Break out the wieners and marshmallows because the campfire ban is over. You can now have campfires 0.5m X 0.5m. But remember to stay safe because you can still get fined if you start a forest fire. To everybody else not camping, have a great weekend and enjoy the sun!
