A single vehicle accident 24 km south of Dease Lake took the lives of two young men yesterday, Tuesday, September 7, 2010. It occurred midday at approximately 1:30 pm.

We are informed unofficially three young men were traveling south in a new pick up truck. For unknown reasons the truck left the road, killing 2 of the occupants and leaving the third one in critical condition. There appears, according to our anonymous source, to have been alcohol involved and they were heading to Iskut (a community without liquor stores) from Dease Lake.

The RCMP closed the highway in both directions for most of the day and evening to enable them to complete their investigation. Drive BC announced the reopening of the highway at just minutes before 6 am Wednesday.
