Pamela Proctor, author of the book Honouring The Child: Changing Ways of Teaching, was at Misty River Books this past Tuesday. This was all part of her tour that is taking her from her home in Gibsons to communities up here in the north.
The author was on hand to talk to residents about their experiences with eduction and to sign books.
Proctor's writing advocates change in current methods of teaching. A change that would see more collaboration and conversation in classrooms, that she feels will increase children's ability to learn.
She has often highlighted the potential harm she feels standardized testing in North America and Britain has on children.
Proctor, who was born in Saskatchewan, is a UBC graduate that taught in the Vancouver for 35 years.
