The Terrace 2010 BC Winter Games have left far more than lasting memories in the area. Applications are now being accepted for the Terrace 2010 BC Winter Games Legacy Fund consisting of more than $60,000 in funding available.
The money is earmarked to provide financial support for non-profit sport, recreation, cultural and community organizations or sponsored bodies operating in and serving the citizens of Terrace and area, including Kitimat.
"It is exciting for the board of directors to see this money made available to groups and organizations in our community,” says Terrace 2010 BC Winter Games President Peter Weeber. "We hope this funding leaves a lasting legacy and serves to remind us all of the community spirit that made these Games such a success."
The legacy left behind by the Terrace 2010 BC Winter Games goes far beyond the four days of competition held in the Terrace-Kitimat region last winter, says BC Games President, Kelly Mann.
“The Games legacies will continue to provide support and benefit to this community for years to come,” says Mann.
The host society’s legacy fund is comprised of the interest earned on dollars given to the Society, 100% of the host society’s profits from souvenir sales, 50% of the savings from dollars not expended of the society’s budget.
The application deadline is Nov. 5, 2010. Applications are available at the Terrace Sportsplex in Terrace and are available for download at www.terrace2010bcwintergames.org
