REPORTING · 4th October 2010

It was just what the doctor ordered for the new Terrace River Kings, a solid convincing victory on the Season Opener. The Kings walked all over the Hazelton Wolverines in a unbalanced throttling of 9 to 1.

This season opener was played in Hazelton on Saturday evening. The next game for the Kings is on Home ice against the Kitimat Ice Demons who are coming to Terrace after their own convincing win over the Prince Rupert Rampage. The Demons, with a new roster as well, thrilled their home town crowd with this first victory by coming from behind in the first period to tally up a final score in their favour, 5 to 2 .

The Terrace roster is proving to be a bit of a challenge as half the team has proven to be very capable of adding to every game. Returning from Hazelton this weekend 11 of the players take credit with points for the win.

Tysen Leblond was the star goal scorer but only slightly ahead of Tristan Murray as Murray also added with an assist for Leblond.

It was quite a team effort with four other individuals; Chris Brown, Ryan Watson, Calen Findlay and Ryan Holtam all putting one between the Hazelton posts. Mark Dhami and Josh Murray each had two assists and only two of the nine goals were unassisted; Ryan Holton`s goal (the seventh) and Chris Brown`s final goal of the game.

According to GM Ray Hallock, this coming weekend will be more of a test as Hazelton was very green having only had a couple of practices prior to this effort. One player arrived in Hazelton after driving 3 hours from work for the game.

This coming weekend the Kings will be up against a well honed Kitimat team who love to do nothing more than punish Terrace. It seems to be a decades old rivalry which Hallock and Head Coach Tooms will need to be ready for.
