REPORTING · 9th October 2010
Merv Ritchie
This is it, Boys and Girls of Hockeyville 2009; we are back on home town ice with the Terrace River Kings. It is time to step back up to the plate (baseball analogy sorry) and take back the right to wear the crown.

The doors open at the Terrace Arena at 7:00 pm for the regions hockey fans to experience the rivalry, the heated exchange between the North and the South. The Demons arrive from the South to try to take the crown from the Kings. The stands will be full of spectators from both towns. Kitimat has a great fan base and they cannot wait to cheer on their Ice Demons. The Demons are coming to Terrace after trashing the Prince Rupert Rampage last weekend 5 to 2 in front of the Demons hometown crowd. Terrace on the other hand did a much more severe beating to the Hazelton Wolverines in front of their fans leaving them to ruins. When the dust settled in the Ken Trombley Memorial Arena last weekend the Kings marched away with a 9 to 1 victory.

So both teams, the Terrace River Kings and the Kitimat Ice Demons are entering the Terrace Sportsplex tonight on a high from a season opener victory. Both teams are wanting to make it two wins in a row. Both teams want to show the other something different. The Demons want to prove they can still dominate the Kings and the Kings are ready to show the Demons this new team, with new Coach Tooms, will rightly put the demons back in the ‘Tomb’ where they belong.

Yes, it is a headline we expect to write, “Tooms puts Demons in the Tomb.”

To do this we are encouraging one and all to show up at the Terrace Arena at 7:00 pm. Richard Kreigl (Berts Deli) is running the Concession stand so you can count on good food and beverages. The Shoot for Loot is back with Totem Ford as is the Best Seat in the House.

The River Kings will be wearing their away sweaters for this game to show off the new logo for their fan base. The Kermodei Bear and Crown is a fresh new stylized look for the 26 players who make up the new team captained by Steve Cullis.

The Terrace Daily is planning to live stream the game direct to your computer screen as it gets underway. That is, only if you cannot make it down/up to the Terrace Arena. If you could make it but you just don’t have a ticket, we just happen to have a stack to give away. It is another first come first serve affair to get a ticket. Simply make a comment on this story stating you want a ticket, include your name and phone number, and we will call to tell you where to pick them up. At the very end, just below, we will write the names of the winners and let you know when they are all gone. And yup, that's it folks - 2 hours and they were all gone. Stay tuned for the next home game give away.
