At approximately 10:00 am on Sunday October 17, 2010 , the Terrace RCMP responded to a person being struck by a train.
A CN train was traveling west bound, approximately 12 km down Old Kitselas Road. Both of the two crew members aboard the train stated they observed a male enter the track space and immediately employed emergency systems of sounding the horns and braking. Despite efforts of the CN crew, the person was struck by the train, and died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
The deceased has been identified as being a 51 year old Terrace resident.
This matter continues to be a coroner's investigation. It is believed the deceased was alone at the time of the incident. Foul play is not suspected.
