Migratory birds are flying south as the temperature drops, but for many the birdies are gonna be flying in the north all the way through till spring.
The Terrace Junior Badminton Club isn't letting the cold weather and rain stop them from having fun this fall as young Badminton enthusiasts sharpen their skills this fall.
Norm Parry, coach and facilitator takes youth from age 8 to 16 and teaches them everything from holding a racquet to advanced skills training.
The group is a mix of those who have been playing and attending sessions for the last 4 years to those who have just started.
Parry starts his group off with stretches and then speaks about the sport with emphasis on following professionals such as those who were in the Commonwealth Games and following pro's on Youtube. He then goes on to skills and drills and then to matches.
Participants are given the opportunity to enter in tournaments throughout the year of which those from around the region, stretching as far Prince George attend.
There is an annual fee of $75 which covers the membership fee and insurance. The club is affiliated with Badminton BC.
The group meets at Thornhill Jr. Secondary School each Tuesday and Thursday and Thursday from 6pm -8pm.
Anyone who has a child interested in joining can contact Norm Parry or Andrew Blix at 635.9422
