The Terrace Midget Rep hockey team played their first two home games of the season against Prince Rupert on the weekend. On Saturday the game went at 5:30 PM. Terrace had a rough start in front of the home crowd. Kyle Gray had the start in net for the home side. Nothing seemed to go right for Terrace and at 3 minutes in, Prince Rupert scored on a rebound along the ice. A minute and a half later another rebound went to an unmarked Rupert player making it 2-0. At 14 minutes, still in the first, Terrace turned the puck over at the Prince Rupert blue line that resulted in a breakaway. A Terrace player pulled him down and it resulted in penalty shot. Rupert got their third goal on the penalty shot. In the second period Terrace was on the power play and hit the post three minutes in. Half way through second another Terrace turnover resulted in a two on one converted by Prince Rupert into a 4 goal lead. Terrace went on the power play and had a couple of nice chances but Rupert again capitalized on a Terrace mistake and scored a shorthanded goal making it a five goal lead with only 8 minutes left in the second.
Terrace finally got on the board when Rhett Munson chipped in a rebound from a Leblond shot with 6 left in second. Terrace carried some momentum into the third period and Marc Schibli scored 4 minutes into the period with a nice shot from the right side making it 5-2. Prince Rupert restored their lead to 4 goals with 8 minutes gone in the third. Terrace counted their third with Austin Legros scoring close in from a pass by Orrey and good hustle from Will Westby. Terrace took consecutive penalties late in the third that killed any chance of a come back. The game ended 6-3; Terrace injuries had Calum Quinn and Kody Kellar leave the game. Marc Schibli missed the game on Sunday because of a hit from behind. Dave Lewis was also out for the weekend.
Sunday`s game went at 11:15 AM. Dawson Kluss was in net for Terrace. Terrace came out with lots of jump and dominated the period but had nothing on the score sheet and the opening period ended with no scoring, Terrace opened the scoring in the second with Austin Braid on the power play going 5 hole. Rupert responded with two of their own, 2-1 half way through the second. Dawson Leblond, with 3 minutes left in the second period took a shot from the point that was tipped in by a Prince Rupert player that tied the score. In the third period Prince Rupert scored half way through with a nice goal to the top shelf making the score 3-2. Terrace turned the puck over at Rupert`s blue line that resulted in a breakaway and with a nice move scored for a 4-2 lead with 7 minutes left.
