Muks-Kum-Ol Housing Development Society is the proud organiser of the IMAGINE Best Practices Youth Homelessness Conference to be held at Kitsumkalum Hall and the Muks-Kum-Ol Youth Centre on November 29.
This one day "Best Practices Conference” objective is to raise awareness of the problem of youth homelessness drawing youth, community organizations and Elders together in a collaborative effort to map out a strategy for a sustainable, long-term culturally relevant program that will serve the northwest region and its Nations.
Speakers include Andrew Robinson Deputy of the Office of the Representative for Children and Youth, Lynda Gray of the Urban Native Youth Association and award-winning (family-friendly) Aboriginal hip-hop artist Robert KASP Sawan.
If you are involved with at-risk youth, work for a service organization dealing with youth, work for Ministry or in education, or are policy-maker, business person oran individual interested in increasing positive choices and opportunities for youth, this day is for you.
The day will include a traditional welcome to the territory, dance groups, a tour of the Muks-Kum-Ol Youth Centre and a community dinner complete with a motivational presentation for the youth by KASP.
