The Terrace Midget Rep hockey team traveled to Quesnel to play in a tier two tournament this past weekend. The team traveled with a full roster of players. The lone game on Friday went at 11:30 AM against Prince George. Terrace started with great jump and quickly got out to a lead with goals from Schibli. In net for Terrace was Kyle Gray who made some key saves early in the game.

Terrace’s defence was outstanding with Dawson Leblond, Nick Homenuik, Joel Findlay, Chris Bergey, and Ryan Devorak shutting down PG. 7-2 final score.

Saturday’s first game was at 7:00 AM against Dawson Creek. In net was Cole Broughton for Terrace. Again Terrace started strong with goals from Schibli, Lewis and Leblond. Dawson Creek got on the sheet with a power play marker and added one more to close out the first 3-2. Terrace added another with Will Westby chipping the puck in, half way through the second. Schibli got his second on the power play with a nice slap shot top corner at the 1800 mark of the second making it 5-2. Lewis added another by putting in a rebound from a shot from Austin Braid past the Dawson Creek tender. Austin Braid made the score 7-2 with a nice shot to the bottom corner. Marc Schibli named game star. Shots on net were 31-6 in Terrace’s favour.

The last game of the round robin was at 11:30 Saturday morning against Smithers. Kyle Gray in net for Terrace. Thirty seconds in Marc Schibli broke down the left wing and put a backhand top shelf. Kyle Gray made several key saves to keep Smithers off the sheet. Dawsen Leblond made a nice move and scored for Terrace on the power play 2-0 only 7 minutes into the first. Terrace went up 3-0 with real hustle from Robert and William Orrey. Marc Schibli was on fire and counted another from Austin Braid 4-0 in the first. In the second period the “oxygen” line of the Orrey boys and Colton Braid added another at the 5 minute mark to go up 5-0. Schibli and Lewis scored late in the second to close out the period 7-0. Schibli got the hat trick. In the third Smithers broke the shut out bid of Gray and Austin Braid finished out the scoring for an 8-1 Terrace win.


Terrace ended the round robin portion of the tournament on top with 22 goals for and 5 against. Terrace met fourth place Skeena Valley League rivals Prince Rupert in the semi finals at 700AM on Sunday. Cole Broughton in net for this game. In the first period Austin Legros broke down the wing and with good speed beat the Prince Rupert goalie. Rupert responded on the power play. Terrace got one of their own on the power play with a nice point shot by Ryan Devorak. Terrace got into some penalty trouble taking a double minor that Prince Rupert scored on. The score was tied 2-2 after one. In the second Prince Rupert scored 3 unanswered goals to sprint out to a 5-2 lead. Scoring machine Schibli added one for Terrace for a 5-3 score after two. In the third Rupert scored again on the PP. Joel Findlay had a great tournament on defence, and made a nice move and scored for Terrace. The game ended 7-4 Rupert.

Terrace then played home team Quesnel for third spot at 11:00 Sunday. Kyle Gray between the pipes for Terrace. The team got out to a great start with Westby and Brandon Stella scoring. The first ended with Terrace up 2-0. Terrace seemed to run out of gas as Quesnel scored 4 unanswered goals with Terrace starting the third down 4-2. In the third Schibli scored again and with 7 minutes left Nick Homenuik scored from the point tying the game. Terrace was on the power play with three minutes left in the game but couldn’t capitalize. With 1:20 left Terrace took a minor penalty and Quesnel made us pay with a game winning goal at 0:24 in the third. Austin Braid was the game star. Terrace took fourth place.

The team is idle this weekend then traveling to Kelowna the following week. Thanks for everyone supporting the team with fireworks purchases.
