The Terrace Salvation Army was able to raise some money for Liberia during a series of fundraisers. Through store sales, bake and craft sales, as well as the Liberian dinner, the Terrace Salvation Army was able to raise $1159.56, which includes the cost of putting on the event.

Those who attended the Liberian dinner were treated to Joll of Rice made of rice, beef, pork, chicken, tomatoes, cabbage and green peppers which were made into a stew. Dinner was followed with some stewed mangos with cloves and “Jungle Juice.”

The efforts for this fundraiser are part of the act of self denial in which congregants are asked to give something up and put it towards a cause that supports people less fortunate. As an example of this, congregants donated sale items for the craft and bake sales.

Captain Rosa mentioned that there was a girl who collected bottles and the money from that is being added to the money raised for Liberia.

Money raised this year will help fund missionaries working in Liberia.
