Follow up to media release Jan. 3, 2011 in regards to Bradley Levesque, the 15 year old from Terrace who died in January after playing a punching game with a friend.
The autopsy report showed no significant findings and no anatomic cause of death. The forensic pathologist who conducted the autopsy concluded that the likely cause of death is a condition know as commotio cordis.
This is a condition in which a lethal arrhythmia known as ventricular fibrillation is triggered after a blunt, non- penetrating impact occurs to the chest, most common in sports involving projectiles such as hockey or baseball. The investigation into this matter has determined that no criminal code charges are being recommended.
The adult host of the party has been issued an Appearance Notice under Section 33(1)© of the Liquor Control and Licensing Act for the offence of permitting a minor to consume liquor in a place under their control.
