The Board of Directors of City West Cable and Telephone are pleased to announce that they have selected a new CEO to replace Rob Brown, who is retiring after nearly 37 years of service to City West. The new CEO, William R. Craig, will start on April 18th.
The Board would like to take this opportunity to thank Rob for his service to the company over the past 37 years and to wish him well in retirement. Chairman of the Board, Gord Howie, said of Rob “Rob started with City West as a telephone lineman and made his way to the top through commitment, hard work and perseverance. A lot of what City West is today is in no small part thanks to Rob’s contributions. We will all miss Rob and wish him the best in the future “
Bill Craig is a seasoned and well-respected member of the broadcast and telecom industries and the Board is looking forward to Bill bringing his dynamic and collaborative management style to the company.
Prior to joining City West, Bill has held positions as CEO of Bermuda Broadcasting, President of Shift TV Inc, President of World On Wireless and Vice-President, TV and Property Development for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Bill was also the co-founder of Bermuda Cablevision, an executive with Rogers Communications in its early days and senior policy analyst with the CRTC.
Bill attended Carleton University in Ottawa and has been very involved in the communities he has lived in. He is a former board member of the Pittsburgh YMCA and former Chair of the Minnesota Film Board. Bill once co-chaired a “Jail ‘n Bail” fundraiser with Carl Pohlad (Minnesota Twins owner) to raise $150,000 for the Cancer Society and raised over $500,000 as the Co-Chair of the Pittsburg “Arts for Aids” with Elsie Hillman.
Steve Lake, Chair of the board’s hiring committee, stated “I can’t think of a better person for this position. CityWest is a diverse company and needs a leader with strengths in many areas. Bill meets and exceeds these requirements and I am excited to have him join our company. His past record of leadership successes and community involvement makes him a perfect fit for City West and for Prince Rupert”
Bill is single and has two grown sons living in Ontario and New York City. He is looking forward to relocating to Prince Rupert to be closer to family and lifelong friends in BC and to participate in the outdoor lifestyle offered in such abundance in this area. Bill is a skier, squash player, sailor, hiker and mountain biker.

Could not help but notice Bills interest in skiing I hope he has purchased a share or two in the ski hill co-op as we need all the help we can get to save our hill. Welcome to the north Bill.
