Farmers Market AGM April 2011
CONTRIBUTION · 15th April 2011
Diana Penner
Over 70 people piled into the old Carpenters Hall on Wednesday April 13th for the Farmer's Market Annual General Meeting.

Individuals completed details necessary to secure their space at the local farmers market and by the end of the evening all the spots were filled and a wait list started for those who were not able to get a space.

Talk about curbs and the skateboard ramp revealed some tripping concerns. Its is hoped that the City will make these more visible by applying bright paint. The financial report identified the need for the construction of a power pole to enable power to vendors. Members agreed to a small user fee to cover the cost of power used on site.

The Greater Terrace Food Association made a presentation to inform and invite members of the Farmers Market to join the GTFA as they work to build a community that supports local food initiatives. Info was given for a food info series to be held May 7, 9 and 11 hosted by Ksan, Northern Health and HEAL.

The objective is to confirm safe food practices and enable local food producers to get their product into local restaurants.

An invitation was also made for all to attend the GTFA AGM on April 20 7:00 pm at the Happy Gang to watch a video on local food production in this region.

Members were invited to check out GTFA on their website
