The Greater Terrace Food Association held its 1st AGM (Annual General Meeting) at the Happy Gang yesterday, Wednesday, April 20. Just under 50 people attended the meeting despite the many other events in town that night including a community gardeners meeting and the all candidates forum all occurring at the same time.

Eleven corporate members were appointed, including representation from; the City of Terrace, the Regional District, UNBC, NWCC, CMSD82, Northern Health, Mount Layton Hotsprings, Kitsumkalum, Day Break Farms, Kalum Community School Society and Ksan Society.

In addition 5 at large directors were appointed, Lynda Gagne, Keith Goodwin, Deidre Quinlan, Charles Claus, and Agatha Jedrzejczyk.

Following this, participants enjoyed a 27 minute video showcasing farmers and food production specialists in the Terrace area.

The video addressed the diversity found in the local region. Examples of traditional farming was evidenced but so to were some unexpected surprises like the production of tomato wine and horehound syrup.

If you want to know more about these and other available delights like birch sap beer and syrups check out the GTFA website and fill in a membership form.

The Terrace region is full of surprises. Together we can unveil its hidden potential and discover our own ability to feed ourselves.
