We often think of art as just paintings, sculptures and music. Every day we see art all around us. We see it on walls. We see it as statues in front of buildings and in parks. We often hear it and forget that it is art. When was the last time you saw someone wear something and thought of it as art? If it has been a while or if you have yet to see someone wear something you would deem art, I encourage you to head down to the Terrace Art Gallery this Thursday April 28th for the “Wearable Art” fundraiser.

Starting at 7pm at the Terrace Art Gallery, 12 local "Fashion Makers" will showcase "Wearable Art" as part of the fundraiser to support the local gallery which lost its funding and is always looking for more support.

Those attending the art walk will have a chance to see beautiful works of art in the form of clothing, jewellery, and other accessories.

“Models will showcase all sorts of wearable art,” said one of the organizers and business owner, Lori Merrill. “It will be a preview of what’s to come at the Famers Market this year.”

Merrill added that it will not be a formal runway event and that it would be a relaxed evening with models walking around and showcasing the art.

The art walk will be take place with former Terrace resident, Dawn Germyn’s current exhibit, “Beautiful Forest” as a back drop. As well the last piece of the exhibit will be brought out for all to see during the event.

It definitely sounds like it will be a spectacular night but this sort of event would not be complete with a silent auction and refreshments; all part of your low admission of $20, which will go a long way in supporting your local art gallery.

This is a great opportunity to treat your eyes and support your gallery and as interim gallery coordinator Jim Williams put it, “All proceeds go to support the gallery, so dust off your Armani, get out that Prada bag, and come to the gallery.”

Event starts at 7pm on Thursday, April 28th at the Terrace Art Gallery (below the Terrace Public Library)

Tickets are a low $20 and are available at Sidewalkers, Red Raven and the Terrace Art Gallery.

I'm sorry I didn't know about it until the day before either. It would have been fun to both particpate and just support their efforts.
Too late

I really wish this was properly advertised earlier, so the community had a chance to plan to attend. It sounds awesome.
