Questions Arise Concerning Use of Premier’s Office, Legislative Resources in Christy Clark Campaign
BC New Democrats are calling for an Elections BC investigation into the use of Legislature and Premier’s office resources on Christy Clark’s by-election campaign in Vancouver-Point Grey.
“We’re deeply concerned that Ms. Clark is undermining the credibility of this by-
election by using taxpayer resources in support of her partisan election campaign,” said Jan O’Brien, Provincial Secretary of the BC NDP. “An immediate investigation by Elections BC should be undertaken to assess what’s going on.”
In a letter to Elections BC Chief Electoral Office Craig James, O’Brien points out that Ms. Clark has been using government staff to organize partisan campaign press events in Vancouver-Point Grey. The letter also raises concerns over the use of her campaign Twitter account on the Premier’s Office website.
“Ms. Clark’s caucus has a poor track record when it comes to dirty campaign tricks and bending the rules,” notes O’Brien. “An investigation into her campaign will begin to restore trust in our election process in British Columbia.”
