The Skeena Watershed Conservation Coalition's Youth On Water (YOW) river guide training program begins its 3rd season of programming on the 20th of June 2011 in Terrace.
The YOW program is recruiting youth immediately and is open to boys and girls, ages 15 to 19.
The Youth On Water program provides a unique opportunity for local youth to experience the grandeur of our local river systems while acquiring tangible and transferable river based job skills.
"The Youth On Water program is the most meaningful and powerful youth program I have ever been involved with." - Kim Ward- Youth Care Worker.
YOW provides the highest possible level of instruction and risk management. Knowledgable and experienced local river professionals will provide industry standard instruction and guiding.
River based learning is enhanced through special guests who accompany trips and provide unique perspectives on local river systems. Guests include fish and wildlife professionals, specialists in ecology and experts in local culture.
"I saw amazing canyons, right in my backyard, that I never knew existed" Donovan -YOW participant.
Youth programs are welcome to apply.
