REPORTING · 13th June 2011
Council Agenda Summary
Don Ramsey, the Ministry of Transportation District Manager, will be addressing Terrace City Council tonight, June 13, 2011 at 7:30pm. He is scheduled to speak first and provide the Councillors with a highways update from the Highways Ministry.
Jill Springer from Skeena Diversity is scheduled to address the council next to invite the Councillors to their upcoming ‘Health Fair’. The Health Fair will be at the Skeena Mall on June 18 between 11am and 4 pm.
A hunger strike is being planned by Jessica McCallum-Miller with the “24 Hour Youth Center Committee”. Miller will share the 24 hour hunger strike concept to the councillors and will be requesting permission to hold the event on the Millennium Trail.
The Terrace Dairy Queen is on the agenda requesting a development permit to renovate the exterior. Last week the Terrace RCMP reported on the theft of part of the exterior from this building. The question could be asked, “Were the Bicycle thieves just lending a hand?”
The Child Development Center is planning to add wheelchair access and is requesting a permit to construct this with a new covered walkway.
Terrace Council will be considering donating up to $10,000 to the new Cancer Lodge in Prince George. Gerry Martin suggested they provide 0.75 per Terrace resident, which would make the donation$8,490 but added Terrace would have recognition on a “Donation Wall” as a $10,000 donor.
