NEWS RELEASE · 29th June 2011
New Democrat leader Adrian Dix today challenged Premier Christy Clark to debate him on the HST on CKNW's Bill Good Show.
“This is a vital decision that the people of B.C. fought hard to gain the right to make, yet Premier Christy Clark has avoided debate and stacked the deck in favour of the pro-HST side," said Dix. "We all know the Premier is a great communicator, yet when she had a chance to debate the HST in the legislature she shut proceedings down just before she was due to speak. I'm inviting her to do the right thing and participate in this forum."
Dix is willing to go one-on-one with the Premier under whatever format or rules CKNW feels are fair and appropriate. Dix is also open to other debates at other venues.
"Unlike Christy Clark and the Liberals, I'm not afraid of a fair debate on the HST," said Dix. "They attempted to kill the citizens' initiative that gave us the referendum, and they fixed the rules for it to favour their side. Now they're spending millions of taxpayer dollars on a partisan Liberal ad campaign that would be illegal if Christy Clark had kept her promise to hold the referendum just like a provincial election."
Dix proposed the debate this morning when he appeared on the Bill Good Show. Good has moderated similar debates numerous times in his broadcasting career.

Not a bad strategy. Of course she will decline because the lady is scared.
