Bike Wars brought to you by Ken's Marine
CONTRIBUTION · 30th August 2011
Terrace Drag Race Association
First of all we at the Terrace Drag Race Association (TDRA) want to thank our fans and sponsors for another awesome year of Drag Racing at the Terrace/Kitimat Airport.

Bike Wars was a great way to finish off a very exciting year, even though we had to cancel our final day we managed to have an excellent race day on Saturday. We were able to finish off our Points Race’s and run two separate Quick 8 fields.

First our defending and reigning champion, who managed to only lose once in the points race all season long, Lou Ribeiro, finishing in the top spot for Jr. Dragsters. That loss was at the hands of Maddy Amado on Saturday’s race.

Our next class has, once again, the reigning and defending champ stepping up big to take the top spot. Shawn Enmark, in the Bike/Sled’s, managed to win every event he attended but one, losing at Bike wars to Al MacFarlane who wasn’t going to back down for anything.

Our next class, new for this year, had Dana Amado sitting on top of the charts with over a 100 point lead on the rest of the field. Dana proving to be a fierce competitor and threatens to take over her Dad’s Super Pro car in years to come. Not only did she win the points race but she also won her class races on Saturday.

Up next, our Pro Class, was as exciting as ever as Shane Calkins managed to finish on top during Bike Wars on Saturday, getting all the bugs worked out on his Camaro. He fell only a few points behind Mike Weinhardt who finished in the top spot for Pro over all.

In our Super Pro field, Paul Amado aiming to take first on Saturday, to finish the trifecta of Amado’s winnings for the weekend was ended abruptly by Bruce Daum who took first for the day with a very exciting race.

Harley Bell however was our top dog all year long in the Super Pro field winning the points race over all. Our feature event for Bike Wars and Hot August Nites (which was postponed until Bike Wars) made for more excitement on Saturday as the 8 fastest Bikes/Sleds and 8 fastest Cars took center stage.

Our MacCarthy Motors Quick 8 from Hot August Nites featured a very tough crowd of racers with Paul Soares taking Top Qualifier as the fastest car and Kris Barnett with the #1 spot and big cash prize.

Our main event of the day was our Ken’s Marine Quick 8 with the 8 fastest Bikes and Sleds, with Al MacFarlane in the Top Qualifier spot with the fastest sled of the weekend and ‘Johnny 5’ Symes fighting all the way to the end with a great finish in 1st taking the bragging rights and money to the bank.

Again to all the racers, volunteers, fans and sponsors we want to Thank you for another successful year of Drag racing at the Terrace/Kitimat Airport without all of you we wouldn’t be able to do what we love to do! Thank you, and See you Next year!
