The RCMP’s North District West Traffic Services are pleased to report no serious motor vehicle collisions over the Labour Day weekend.
Police were out in force on area provincial highways issuing 89 violation tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act, 6 violation tickets under the Liquor Control Licensing Act, along with 1 seven day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) and 3 ninety day IRPs.
Traffic members also laid 6 charges under the Criminal Code including driving while prohibited and arrested another individual on an outstanding warrant. In two separate traffic stops police also seized a small quantity of cannabis marihuana.
The RCMP remind motorists that as part of September's Road Safety Campaign, police will be strictly enforcing motorists not wearing seatbelts and using electronic devices while driving. And with students back to school police also remind motorists to pay particular attention in school zones (30km/h) and to watch for pedestrians.
