Ksan Society presents its Second Annual HARVEST FOOD FEST September 17 and 18 at the Arena Banquet Room
Pencil in this coming weekend for great food, entertainment, knowledge and community growth! Harvest Food Fest is a joyous celebration of Terrace’s local food production.
September 17th starts at 1.30 p.m. with an info session on Community Supported Agriculture with local farmers and community members.
We follow that with a Community Potluck Dinner. Starting at 5.00 pm families can bring their favorite dish to the potluck. Preferably it is something from your garden, a fish from the river, moose from the bush, or anything local that can be eaten. If you can't bring a something with a local ingredient then bring something else - your presence will suffice as the local ingredient.
One dish per family and a donation is the cost of admission. All proceeds will go towards local food programs.
Following dinner is the Harvest Family Dance featuring Cabin Fever who will play and sing from 6:30 to 11:30 pm.
ENJOY LOCAL FOOD AS REFRESHMENT! Rhubarb punch and cut veggies will be our dance snack as the night boogies along.
On Sunday September 18th from 11 am to 3 we host Harvest Fest. Demos on sprouting, sauerkraut making, drying, juicing, brewing, jamming, pickling and a Mini Farmer's Market all happen at the Terrace Arena Banquet room. Fruits and veggies picked during the week will be sold for $5.00 a box - fresh food accessible to all.
We’ll have info on gardening, including lasagna gardens, seed collection and the Master Gardener Program.
An Afternoon Tea will be offered with desserts made from local foods, including walnut tarts, apple cake, plum cake, zucchini loaf, and more. For the cost of a toonie you get a water, tea or coffee and a dessert of your choice.
Games, music and crafts round out the afternoon.
