The Terrace Crime Reduction Unit had an effective presence in the summer of 2011.
Commonly known as CRU, for the summer months it consisted of three full time members. Their mandate: to make Terrace a safer place by focusing on criminality in Terrace, including the downtown core.
When Terrace Detachment identified a problem area, CRU would focus on it.
For the period of July thru August, CRU made 86 arrests for public intoxication, pursued 57 Criminal Code charges, did 116 bail condition checks, executed 10 warrants, and issued 20 Park Bans.
Furthermore, CRU issued violation tickets.
81 under the Motor Vehicle Act,
126 under the Liquor Control and Licencing Act,
and 22 under Bylaws.
Due to the frequent inclement weather this summer, CRU did not utilize bike patrols. They conducted 25 foot patrols and 48 vehicle patrols. On top of all this, CRU assisted Terrace General Duty members with 199 calls.
