Don't quote me on this, but as far as I know the max imum amt of passengers allowed in regular cab is 4 - except that an additional passenger must be accepted if such passenger is under the age of seven and is held on the lap of an adult passenger seated in the REAR. I know. ..weird.

I always lug along my daughter's car seat when I take a cab, cuz I can't take that chance in the event of a MVA. OH! And did you know Class 4 drivers (cabbies) don't even have to wear seatbelts unless they drive over 70 km/hr?! Again....Weird.

In any event, feel free to comment on the BC Taxi Bill of Rights website so they can review your input/concerns:

That's interesting, someone gets a warning for not using a car seat, yet when I complained to the taxi company (I was at Walmart and watched this take place)about a driver letting 5 passengers (one of the small cabs, therefore more people then seat belts I am guessing) PLUS one of the passengers was carrying a small child on her LAP, I was told (by cab dispatch) that cabs are allowed to do this?? Still bugs me to this day, besides the fact of over filling the cab, it is VERY concerning to me that babies and small children can be unrestrained and just held on a lap, it should be illegal and shame on a mother who takes a chance like that!
The more I think about it I should have just called the police to see what they would say about it. Input anyone??
